Most recent review...AKA I found a new series to read!!!

Taking Shots by Toni Aleo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just discovered this series and I am SOOOO glad that I'm late! Now I don't have to wait to read the other books! I had downloaded this quite some time ago and with football season ending decided to read something hockey related.
The characters were so real and as a thyroid cancer survivor, I felt some of Elli's pain and insecurity. At the same time, I was yelling at her for being an idiot quite often!
Thanks to Toni Aleo for writing a story that I could really get into!! GO ASSASSINS!!!

Review: Love at First Snow

Love at First Snow by Jami Davenport

Blake and Sarah have both suffered loss and neither one anticipates a happy Christmas. But when Blake finds a sick kitten and takes it to Sarah's vet practice, things start to heat up pretty quickly.

This novella was heartbreaking and heartwarming throughout. I could feel the emptiness of both Blake and Sarah, as well as the confusion they each felt upon meeting. This was the perfect sweet love story for the holidays and I am totally bummed I discovered it a couple of weeks too late!

Review: Earls Just Want To Have Fun

Earls Just Want to Have Fun by Shana Galen

In typical Shana Galen fashion, here was a fast paced, well written story with characters that you can't help but fall in love with. But one of the things that I enjoyed most about this story was that both characters were fish out of water. Sure, Marlowe was the main one who was often out of place, but for once, the male lead wasn't some alpha male who could handle any and all situations put in front of him- not that I mind those either, but I digress. Instead, Dane plays out as a man who is comfortable, is resistant to change, and questions himself when he is forced to see things differently. Marlowe was perfect for him because she was the decisive one. It was a nice change from the norm and I highly recommend this to anyone who may want a bit of something different in their historical romance.

Review: Dark Debt

Dark Debt by Chloe Neill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a huge fan of the Chicagoland Vampires series and Dark Debt just added to the reasons why. I enjoy the relationships- whether Merit and Ethan, Merit and Mallory, or any of the other combinations of people/vampires in the series. The action is fast-paced, which I appreciate because if story doesn't pull me in pretty quickly, I move on. I also appreciate that everything is told in a straightforward manner- nothing kills a story like having to go back and re-read for a missed detail. I know that some may consider the series fairly formulaic, and I can see where that may be a problem. But within the formula, so much is still unpredictable and that is what makes me want to continue reading.
